“Why is steel superior to wood?”

Codes
Steel buildings are designed to meet building codes. Most pole barn buildings do not meet these same codes.

Foundations
Steel buildings have footings that are tied together with rebar and concrete. Frames are bolted to anchor bolts. Pole Barns bury post into foundation creating a moisture issue. This can cause pole barn columns to easily deteriorate and rot.

Versatility
Steel buildings can be used for many applications. Wider free spans and less roof space waste allow for more flexibility with a steel building.

Quality
Steel frames are made to your job. Steel will not rot, split, twist, and heave after being installed. These conditions will work fasteners loose unlike their steel counterpart which does not work fasteners loose. Your building just stays “tighter” with steel.

Fire Resistance
Insurance companies look upon steel buildings more favorably than their wood counterpart.

Vermin proof
Steel buildings are not susceptible to termites or carpenter ants (as wood can be.)

Construction Time
Steel buildings are simple to install. Wood and Pole barn buildings take additional time because they are more labor intensive to install.
